Girls in Sport Week: Encouraging Young Athletes to Stay Active
Girls in Sport Week, hosted by Nanaimo United FC, brought together athletes, families, and community organizations to celebrate girls in sports and address an important issue — the growing number of girls who drop out of athletics during adolescence. The event created an inclusive space that encouraged young athletes to stay active, confident, and connected through sport while highlighting the importance of representation and support.
Coming Together for a Shared Purpose
As one of the event sponsors, Athleticus Research joined local brands like Lululemon, Hettas, Wild Wood Health, and Brooks Canada in championing a shared mission: empowering young girls to stay in sports. Together, we helped foster an environment of encouragement, learning, and inspiration, one where girls could see that their community stands behind them, on and off the field.
Educating for Confidence and Performance
Our team was on-site to open up conversations about an often-overlooked topic: periods in sports. Through interactive discussions and one-on-one chats, we aimed to educate athletes about the changes in their bodies and how to stay confident and active throughout their cycles.
The Right Gear to Keep Girls Moving
At our booth, athletes and parents discovered our leakproof performance underwear, designed to help girls and women train, compete, and move with confidence. All the ladies were excited to learn how the right gear can make a lasting difference; keeping athletes comfortable, protected, and focused on what truly matters–their love for the game.
